OMG, I just stumbled upon the most amazing Apple Puff Pastry Turnover recipe ever! I cannot wait to share it with you all. This recipe is so easy to make and tastes like a heavenly slice of apple pie. Yum!
Homemade Apple Turnovers
Have you ever tried making apple turnovers at home? If not, you’re definitely missing out. These turnovers are buttery, flaky, and filled with warm, gooey apples that have been cooked to perfection. And the best part? They’re surprisingly easy to make.
Ingredients
- 1 package of puff pastry sheets (2 sheets)
- 2 medium-sized apples, peeled and diced into small pieces
- 1/4 cup of sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
- 1 egg, beaten
How to Make Apple Turnovers
First things first, preheat your oven to 400 degrees F.
Then, take out the puff pastry sheets and let them thaw at room temperature for about 20-25 minutes until they’re pliable.
While the pastry is thawing, mix together the diced apples, sugar, cinnamon and salt in a medium-sized bowl.
On a floured surface, unfold one of the pastry sheets and cut it into four squares. Repeat with the second pastry sheet.
Next, spoon about 1-2 tablespoons of apple filling onto the center of each pastry square. Fold over one corner of the pastry to create a triangle and press down with a fork to seal the edges.
Brush the tops of each turnover with the beaten egg to give them a nice golden brown shine. And, if you’re feeling fancy, sprinkle a little bit of cinnamon sugar on top.
Place the turnovers on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 18-20 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
Tips and Tricks
- Make sure to dice the apples into small, bite-sized pieces so they cook evenly.
- Don’t over-stuff the pastry squares or they won’t seal properly.
- For a fun twist, add a little bit of caramel sauce to the filling before baking.
- Serve the turnovers warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a truly decadent dessert experience.
And voila! You now have a batch of delicious homemade apple turnovers that you can enjoy with friends, family, or all by yourself (no judgment here).
Until next time – happy baking!
